Navgraha Shanti Puja

Authentic online Navgraha Shanti Puja performed with proper Vedic rituals and guidance from experienced pandits.

About This Puja

Navagraha Shanti Puja is a Vedic ritual performed to worship and balance the nine planetary forces: Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu, and Ketu. It is mainly done to reduce the malefic effects and strengthen the positive effects of planets as per one’s horoscope, restoring harmony between karma and cosmic influences.

Benefits

Reduces negative planetary effects (doshas) and enhances the beneficial strengths of planets in the kundli, especially during tough dashas and transits.
Helps in issues like health problems, mental stress, delays, financial losses, debts, career blocks, and family disharmony, giving more stability and clarity in life decisions.
Is believed to support success in exams, job or promotion, business growth, marriage and childbirth prospects, and overall peace and prosperity in the home.
Many traditions recommend it before major events (marriage, griha pravesh, career change), during sade-sati, Rahu–Ketu periods, or when multiple graha doshas are active simultaneously.

Puja Process

1. Preparation Clean the puja area, spread a clean cloth, and arrange a small altar or mandala for nine planets (photos, yantras, or even written names). Keep samagri ready: rice, flowers, diya, incense, kumkum, haldi, fruits, sweets, water, and if possible, nine small kalash or bowls (one for each planet). 2
2. Sthapana of Navgrah Place the planet symbols in a neat order (commonly: Surya in the center, others around). Light the main diya and incense, and mentally invite the Navgrahas to be present in the puja.
3. Sankalp (Intention) Sit facing east or north, join hands, and speak your sankalp: your name, gotra (if known), place, and purpose of puja (e.g., for health, career, peace, relief from doshas). Intend specifically for “Navgrah Shanti and Graha Balancing” rather than only wish‑fulfilment, so it stays dharmic and focused.
4. Ganesh Puja Offer flowers and rice to Lord Ganesha and chant a short Ganesh mantra (or simply “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah”). Request removal of obstacles in the ritual and in your life path.
5. Short Panchdev or Guru Vandana (Optional but Ideal) Briefly bow to Shiva, Vishnu, Devi, Surya, and your Gurus; this anchors the Navgrah puja in the wider devata framework, as many classic Navgrah Shantis are done in Shiva–Surya–Navgrah format.
6. Individual Planet Worship (Simple Mantra and Offering) For each planet, follow this pattern: Place a flower and a pinch of rice. Offer a little water or akshata. Chant a simple namah mantra 9 or 27 times (as per time/energy). Example simple mantras sequence: Surya: “Om Surya Namah” Chandra: “Om Somaya Namah” Mangal: “Om Mangalaya Namah” Budh: “Om Budhaya Namah” Guru (Jupiter): “Om Brihaspataye Namah” Shukra: “Om Shukraya Namah” Shani: “Om Shanaye Namah” Rahu: “Om Rahave Namah” Ketu: “Om Ketave Namah” Keep the mind calm and visualise that each graha becomes more balanced and benevolent while you chant.
7. Common Offerings and Charity Sankalp After individual mantras, offer fruits, sweets, and a small arti to the collective Navgrah. Take a small envelope or symbolic coin for charity and link it to your sankalp (e.g., feeding the poor, donating books, or supporting education), as many traditions connect Navgrah Shanti strongly with daan (charity).
8. Navgrah Prayer Fold hands and pray in simple English: ask the planets to reduce harsh effects and strengthen dharmic, positive influences in your life. If a particular graha is very afflicted, you may repeat its mantra extra times while still keeping the puja for all nine.
9. Aarti and Closure Perform aarti to the Navgrah altar with a small lamp, moving it slowly in circles, and chant any general aarti or simply “Om” or “Jai Navgrah Devta” with devotion. Touch the altar with your head or hands, then your own forehead, symbolising receiving shakti and blessings.
10. Prasad and Daan Distribute prasad to family or consume a little yourself with gratitude. Complete the puja by planning or immediately doing some small daan according to your sankalp (milk, clothes, food, or money to someone in need), as this grounds the planetary balance in real karmic action.
